Fantasy, Mythology and Science Fiction
My latest painting, Kill Jill, is an 8.5" x 11" acrylic on cardstock created using a gel press. It was inspired while listening to "Kill Jill" by Big Boi, a track that immediately pulled me into the cinematic world of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill. The song evoked images of Gogo Yubari—a character who embodies both elegance and lethal intensity. That duality was the spark for this piece. I set out to create a portrait that channels a similar balance: someone visually delicate and strikingly beautiful, but undeniably fierce, with presence and power that doesn't require words.
The background is painted in a luminous pearl white, with a bold red sun circle anchoring the portrait and adding symbolic weight. Her flowery dress is soft and detailed, bringing contrast and a sense of fragility, but her intense gaze and sharply parted straight hair speak volumes. Her pose is quiet yet unshakable—deliberately stoic, creating an emotional tension between serenity and power. This is a character who doesn’t need movement or weapons to demand your attention.
