Cat
Cat
Acrylic on Canvas
2”x 3”
2009

“Cat” is a tiny yet intimate acrylic painting on a 2"x3" canvas—perhaps the smallest surface I’ve ever worked on. Despite its size, it captures a quietly charming moment: a gray cat with vivid aqua eyes, perched at the edge of a table, about to eat from its green bowl. The background is washed in a rich orange, giving the scene warmth and contrast, almost as if the room is glowing with late afternoon light. There's something sweet and still about it, like a snapshot of everyday calm rendered in miniature.

The piece was created as a gift for my friend Isa, who not only inspired the painting but also supplied the paints that made it possible. She’s been a constant source of support in my creative journey, and this was a small thank-you wrapped in color and care. Strangely poetic, the very same paints Isa gifted me in 2009 would go on to shape “Que Pasa CSE” in 2025—a much larger, far more personal piece made for her. In a way, “Cat” feels like the first brushstroke of a creative thread that stretched across years, friendship, and canvas sizes.
