Buffalo Charges Towards
Buffalo Charges Towards
Acrylic on Carboard
5.5” x 9”
2025

My latest piece is titled "Buffalo Charges Towards," a 5.5 x 9 inch acrylic painting on recycled cardboard. Created entirely in red paints, the artwork features bold handwritten text that serves as both visual texture and narrative. In red and orange Sharpie, the phrase "Be A Buffalo" stands out with urgency, followed by the smaller red ink line "cows run away from a storm." Anchoring the message is the line "but buffalo charges toward it to get through it quicker" written in white cursive ink. The piece draws on a powerful metaphor and memory from visiting Yellowstone with my children—watching the buffalo and learning what their behavior reveals about courage, resilience, and forward motion.

Beyond its natural subject matter, this painting serves as a larger life lesson. It reflects the idea that running from our problems only prolongs the struggle, while facing them head on allows us to move through the storm and reach clarity faster. The recycled cardboard grounds the piece in themes of reuse and endurance, echoing the strength of the buffalo itself. It is a work rooted in both personal experience and universal truth, blending memory and message into one visual reminder to confront rather than retreat.
