Into the Wild
Here is my latest artwork, titled "Buffalo Stare" — an 8.5" x 11" piece done in acrylic on cardstock using a gel plate transfer technique. The focal point is the striking head of an American Bison, boldly rendered in a vibrant orange that demands attention. This color choice reflects both the power and spiritual presence of these incredible creatures. Working on this piece brought a rush of nostalgia and awe, connecting me back to a powerful moment in nature.
This painting was inspired by a family trip to Yellowstone National Park — our first time seeing bison in the wild and our first visit to the park together. The experience was unforgettable. Reading about bison in books doesn’t prepare you for the overwhelming feeling of witnessing their sheer numbers, strength, and grace up close. That memory is embedded in every brushstroke of this work.
