Mail Art South Florida
“Cow Fue Con Leche” was created as part of my ongoing involvement in the Mail Art Movement, where artists across the world share handmade postcard creations as a way of connecting and storytelling through art. I am deeply grateful to @Ceramink for her dedication in organizing, supporting, and uplifting so many of us while also pursuing her own creative path. Her efforts allow our work to travel, to meet others, and to live in conversations far beyond our local communities. Each piece I contribute holds one thing in common, the telling of our local story. From the beauty of our flora and fauna to the echoes of our leaders and the rhythms of everyday life, I focus on capturing the spirit of Florida, and more specifically, the soul of South Florida.
This particular work is my second playful tribute to Miami Lakes, Florida, with its beloved cows and vibrant Hispanic influence. Unlike my earlier version that leaned into bold and colorful tones, this one embraces a warmer, earthier palette, which I feel brings a sense of intimacy to the scene. The contrast makes the pearl white and gold trim of the cup stand out with elegance. I have always carried a fondness for Miami Lakes, often referred to as an “Upscale Hialeah,” and the years I spent there left an impression that still lingers in my work. Even now, I enjoy taking my son to see the remaining cow pastures, a reminder of the charm and character of a place that continues to inspire both memory and art.
