This is my latest artwork titled "Audkawa" created using a gel plate with acrylic on cardstock. It is a portrait of the incredibly talented Audrey Kawasaki, a Japanese American artist celebrated for her dreamy feminine portraits and ethereal characters. Her delicate yet powerful style has always been a major source of inspiration for me, and I wanted to honor that influence through my own creative process. Her ability to balance strength and softness in her figures is something I deeply admire.
For this piece, I worked from one of her posted pictures and tried to reflect the dreamlike quality that defines her art. The colors, textures, and flow of the portrait were all chosen to echo the beauty and spirit of her work while still allowing my own interpretation to emerge. Audrey Kawasaki continues to inspire artists and admirers all over the world with her boundless imagination, and this piece is my small tribute to her artistic brilliance.
