This is my latest artwork as part of my ongoing involvement in the #mailartmovement, a celebration of creativity and connection through shared expression. I’ve been inspired by the idea of exchanging glimpses of our local fauna, flora, culture, and heroes with people around the world. This particular painting, created in September 2025, captures a slice of Miami’s essence—where the vibrancy of life meets the echoes of history. When you think of Miami, you can’t help but recall the strong Cuban presence, the athletic legacies of Dwyane Wade and Dan Marino, and, of course, the unforgettable cultural imprint of Scarface.
Al Pacino’s portrayal of Tony Montana perfectly encapsulated what it felt like to grow up in Miami during the 1980s. The film’s raw depiction of opulence, danger, and ambition reflected the contradictions that defined the city at the time. Though it may seem exaggerated now, it remains an authentic time capsule of Miami’s pulse—loud, fearless, and full of attitude. Its unforgettable quotes have become part of pop culture’s DNA, immortalizing Pacino’s fierce energy and the city’s larger-than-life aura. Here’s to Tony Montana, the bad guy who told the truth, and to Miami, which still lives by its own rules.
