Draw The Lines Somewhere is an abstract painting created on the back of an Elysian beer box, continuing my practice of transforming discarded materials into art. The piece reflects my commitment to giving new life to what might otherwise end up in a landfill, allowing texture and imperfection to guide the creative process. The composition features layers of aqua, yellow, green, and black paint that have been brushed, rolled, and scratched onto the surface, forming a complex interplay of movement and contrast. Each mark adds depth, creating a sense of rhythm and tension that gives the work both energy and weight.
Across these layers, I used a thick red marker to draw vertical and horizontal lines that never intersect. These lines stand as barriers, borders, or quiet separations within the chaos of color. Someone mentioned the finished piece resembled a flag, though that was not my intent. Still, I can see how that interpretation might arise, perhaps reflecting an unconscious response to the atmosphere of division seen in daily news. Draw The Lines Somewhere captures that uneasy balance between unity and distance, between creation and boundary.
