“Jagger Time” is my latest painting, created on eight point five by eleven inch cardstock paper using the gel plate method. The inspiration arrived unexpectedly while I was doomscrolling through Instagram and came across a vintage post of the Rolling Stones in the studio recording Sympathy for the Devil. There was a raw electricity in that moment, a mix of late nineteen sixties color and mood that seemed to radiate straight out of the image. Mick Jagger carried an unmistakable vibe, that blend of swagger, charm, and playful rebellion that has always made him such an iconic presence.
I knew I wanted to capture that same atmosphere in paint, so I created a close up portrait centered on his sly smile and the confident spark in his expression. The palette came straight from the feeling of that studio image, with neon pinks and lime greens working together to echo the energy of that era. The final piece is my attempt to translate a vintage moment of pure creative fire into a contemporary work of art.
