More Word on the Street
This painting is built around the idea of cycles and return. The central red circle holds the phrase as a quiet truth rather than a declaration, surrounded by cooler blues and muted neutrals that suggest distance and reflection. I wanted the circular forms to feel steady and inevitable, like something ancient and familiar. The textured background and rough edges keep the surface imperfect, reminding me that repetition in life is never exact even when it feels similar.
As I worked on this piece I was thinking about how experiences layer over time and how endings often carry the shape of beginnings within them. The process involved building and scraping back layers until the words felt embedded rather than placed on top. This work is part of my Word on the Street series, where I leave art in public spaces as a way to engage people in their everyday movement through the world. The meaning for me is about acceptance and continuity, and about offering something that might inspire, invite reflection, or shift a moment for the viewer as they encounter it unexpectedly.
