Love Robot
Love Robot
Acrylic and Ink on Wood
4” x 11.75”
2025

"Love Robot" serves as a poignant exploration of the intersection between mechanical design and organic emotion. The central figure—a golden automaton rendered with bold, graphic precision—presents a striking juxtaposition against the vibrant red heart it carefully cradles. This piece is meant to capture a sense of programmed innocence and quiet devotion, questioning the boundaries between cold circuitry and warm sentiment. The robot’s large, soulful eyes suggest a vulnerability that belies its metal exterior, inviting the viewer to see a spark of "humanity" within its rigid, industrial frame.

Created in 2025, the physical soul of this work resides in its unconventional substrate: a piece of wood salvaged from a broken cutting board. I chose to preserve the history of the object, allowing the natural grain and the wear of its previous life to merge with the new narrative. The background is a heavily distressed teal, applied with a weathered finish that hints at rust and mechanical age. The high-contrast black outlines and the glossy, reflective finish of the heart create a pop-art sensibility that stands in sharp relief against the raw, textured surface of the repurposed wood.

As the artist, I view "Love Robot" as a celebration of resilience and the act of rebuilding. By taking a broken domestic tool and transforming it into a vessel for fine art, I am honoring the beauty found in fragments and the capacity for love to take root in even the most unlikely environments. It is a reminder that even when the foundation is fractured, we can still construct something meaningful and full of heart. This piece stands as a testament to the transformative power of perspective and the enduring relevance of connection in a fragmented world.
