This is my latest painting, Original Sin, a reinterpretation of the familiar biblical moment centered on Eve, the snake, and the apple. I approached this piece less as a literal retelling and more as a psychological portrait, focusing on the instant before consequence fully arrives. Eve’s gaze is calm and knowing, suspended between innocence and awareness, as the narrative shifts from purity to choice.

The snake is not presented as purely menacing but as an intimate presence, almost conversational, winding its way into the scene as temptation and curiosity rather than outright evil. The apple becomes a symbol of agency as much as transgression, held close and deliberate. Through texture and bold color, I wanted the figures to feel ancient and immediate at the same time, as if this story is constantly being retold in different forms across generations.

At its core, Original Sin explores the tension between desire, knowledge, and responsibility. This story has long been used to frame blame and loss, but I am more interested in the human moment within it, the quiet courage and fear that coexist when a decision cannot be undone. By revisiting this image, I aim to invite reflection on how myths shape our understanding of choice and consequence in our own lives.
