More Abstract
Master was created in direct conversation with its companion Control, the two painted side by side as a single thought split into separate surfaces. The titles are a quiet nod to Tron, a world where systems, authority, and autonomy are always in tension. While working on this piece I was thinking about who or what holds power, how structure forms, and how easily it can feel both protective and restrictive at the same time.
The circular forms became the backbone of this painting, repeating and overlapping as a way to suggest systems within systems. Lines loop, intersect, and refuse to settle, while the central ring feels like a core or command point that everything else orbits. I allowed the shapes to build organically, layering color and mark making until the surface felt active and slightly unstable, as if it were constantly recalibrating itself.
Color plays a quiet but deliberate role here. Earthy browns and yellows ground the piece, while blues and greens introduce a sense of order and logic pushing against that weight. Master is not about dominance in a loud sense, but about presence and influence, the unseen forces that guide movement and decision. It exists as a map of control that is never fully fixed, always shifting as the viewer engages with it.
