I am delighted to share my latest portrait titled Yuset. When I first met the subject of this piece I was immediately struck by her resemblance to the main character from the movie Amelie. It was a distinct vibe that she carried so naturally and I later discovered that she even uses a photo in that similar style for her Instagram profile picture. That initial impression of whimsical charm is exactly what I wanted to capture on canvas using my signature textured approach to portraiture.
Our connection began with a brief thirty minute meeting at a local coffee shop. That short encounter led to a genuine friendship that has slowly brewed over the last two years if you will pardon the pun. As a fine artist it is always special when a subject becomes more than just a face to paint but a meaningful part of my life. Getting to know her over time allowed me to add layers of depth to this portrait that go beyond a simple physical likeness.
Through our ongoing friendship I have come to admire what a great mother she is to her children. Beneath that charming and playful exterior is a truly delicate and caring soul which I hope shines through in the finished piece. We also discovered we bonded over having the same weird passion for hunting through thrift stores and finding old items to restore to their former glory. This painting is a celebration of that unique spirit and the wonderful connection we share.
