More Abstract
In my latest work titled Klimpting I am paying homage to the master of decorative abstraction Gustav Klimt while maintaining my own expressive language. I wanted to capture the essence of his golden phase and his unique way of layering patterns without directly imitating his specific figures. By utilizing a vibrant yellow that echoes his famous gold leaf I created a visual bridge between classical inspiration and contemporary abstract techniques. This piece is about the beauty of structure meeting the freedom of fluid movement in a space that feels both ancient and modern.
The process behind this painting involved a careful balance of rigid geometric forms and organic strokes. I used my brayer to lay down the bold black blocks which provide a grounded industrial feeling against the stark white background. Over these shapes I layered translucent ribbons of green blue and red that weave through the composition like memories or fleeting thoughts. Through Klimpting I am exploring how minimal shapes can still carry a deep sense of elegance and history while celebrating the simple joy of color on a surface.
