More Abstract
My abstract piece, "Aquaphonic," translates the resonant frequencies and tactile energy of water into visual form. Structured around a luminous vertical axis, the composition channels an upward surge that feels both sonic and fluid. Framed by saturated cerulean borders, the work draws the eye inward to a central aperture of pale, filtered light, establishing a dialogue between deep submersion and surface brilliance.
At the core of the painting, dynamic gestural ribbons of cobalt and cyan twist in an energetic, undulating vortex. These thick, physical brushstrokes convey the sensation of currents in motion, punctuated by muted sea-green washes and deep maroon splatters that break the monochrome field like hidden percussion. The deliberate contrast between smooth background layers and raised, tactile swirls gives the central column a palpable rhythmic presence.
"Aquaphonic" serves as an exploration of underwater acoustics and movement, capturing how sound reverberates through depth. It invites the viewer to look past the stillness of the frame and experience the pulse within the tide.
