The Inside Joke > Down To The Bones

As part of the collection "The Inside Joke: Down To The Bones," "Ghost Duty" directly advances the journey that began with last year's well-received exhibition, "The Inside Joke: The Bare Bones of Narcissism." This year's gallery expands its reach far beyond narcissism to explore other dark, deeply complex corners of the human condition and psyche. With "Ghost Duty," the focus turns toward the heavy, enduring weight of psychological trauma and the devastating consequences of war.

In this striking composition, a skeletal soldier clad in military fatigue greens sits bowed over in a dense jungle setting, clutching a CB radio handset after just calling in an airstrike. With a hand pressed against its skull and aan antenna leaning nearby, the piece captures the immediate, overwhelming aftermath of a catastrophic decision. The contrast between the lush green backdrop and the figure's agonized posture emphasizes the profound psychological rupture created in that singular moment.

By applying signature skeletal iconography to the haunting reality of military trauma, "Ghost Duty" strips away superficial judgment to expose the irreversible emotional toll carried by those on the front lines. It stands as a powerful and empathetic addition to the gallery, holding up an honest mirror to the invisible, lifelong weight of survival and memory.
